About This Course

This mini-course introduces the IDA user interface and focuses on how to use the debugger. It covers tasks such as installation, loading a binary, using breakpoints, stepping through execution, and examining memory and registers.

Requirements

You must be comfortable with C programming and x86 assembly language, as taught in Architecture 1001 on this site.

Christina Johns

Christina Johns is a Principal Malware Analyst at Red Canary with over 10 year experience. Prior to becoming a malware analyst she worked in a variety of areas including web application assessment, android forensics and incident response. Her research interests lie at the intersection of automating binary analysis and malware reverse engineering. She has taught multiple Intro to CTF and Reverse Engineering workshops, volunteered with the Cyberjutsu Girls Academy, enjoys participating in CTFs to build her skills, and helping others do the same.
